VISION GREEN F.A.Q.

If you are getting intrested in the "synthetic turf" world for the first time, you will be able to satisfy your curiosity with answers to those that many years of experience in this field let us consider the most frequently asked questions about this product:

° For which purposes is synthetic grass suitable?

Unieco Sport manufactures synthetic grass turfs for sport use within many disciplines (soccer, tennis, rugby, hockey,…) and for a decorative/landscaping use (private gardens, pool sides, children playgrounds, bars and restaurants’ verandas, terraces, traffic circles, traffic islands).

° How is synthetic turf manufactured?

The yarns are woven by means of a loom on a primary tissue whose back is then spread with a latex compound and subsequently vulcanized through the passage into a drying oven in order to fix the yarns to the primary preventing them from moving or slipping off once they are stressed with strong cracklings or frictions.

° Which is the dimension of a synthetic turf's roll?

Our synthetic turf's rolls are characterized by a length that depends on the dimension of the surface that needs to be covered and by a width that goes from 3,75 to 4,10 meters.

° Is artificial grass expensive/convenient in the sport field?

A synthetic grass field needs a more onerous initial investment compared to that necessary for a natural one, but it's a project whose value raises day after day. The higher initial cost is opposed to a cost per hour that reveals to be really lower, thanks to less frequent and expensive maintenance practices and to a utilization availability that is basically continuous, regardless of daytimes and weather conditions. At the end of the day, synthetic grass is definitely an advantageous investment with an higher return.

° How are the lines impressed on the field turf?

The lines are made in the same way as the rest of the artificial turf and not colored later as they do on an natural grass field in order to obtain an homogeneous, always regular, and always visible line marking so that you don't have the need to repeat the operation periodically.

° What's the substructure and what's its function?

The substructure is the surface on which the grass rolls lay and it should be really flat and made with specific materials in order to grant the right water drainage and perfect stability through time.

° What's the infill and what's its function

The infill is made of silica sand and rubber granules and it's inserted between the yarns our turfs are made of. Different kind of products consider one, both or none of the two types of infill depending on the use and on the synthetic grass typology. In the sport turfs the first infill layer starting from the pile base consist of silica sand and it has a stabilizing function thanks to the weight that it provides to the rolls that are just leaning on the ground. Above this first layer there is another one consisting of rubber granules with a performance enhancing function as it, necessary as regards shock absorption, for players, and in order to grant those technical characteristics that make the game experience on a synthetic turf field so similar to that on a natural grass field. At the same time the infill has the function to maintain the pile straight and help him to come back to its original position.

° Is there the chance that the fibers remain on an horizontal position after they are trampled?

The characteristic of artificial grass that prevents this situation is called resilience. The resilience is, in our specific case, "the capacity of a yarn or a tissue to come back to its original shape or position after a dynamic strain determined by a shock challenge". A fundamental function in order to grant the constant straight positioning of the fibers is played by a correct maintenance and a periodical brushing.

° Which sport can be played on a synthetic grass field?

Our range of products covers the needs as regards different sports including hockey, tennis, golf, 5 a side soccer, 7 a side soccer, 11 a side soccer, rugby.

° Is there just one kind of product for every sport?

No. Unieco Sport offers a range of products suitable for the needs of every sport considering both the technical and economic aspects.

° Why are there many pile heights?

Different sports need turfs with different technical characteristics and different reactions are required to the specific strains that every discipline's typical game actions apply on the field turf. For example, in a discipline like hockey the ball rolling will be very important and in a sport like rugby it will be the shock absorption one of the fundamental parameters.

° Can the same field be utilized for different sports? How is it possible to distinguish different lines markings?

The same field can be used in order to play different sports on it, as long as they involve similar field dimensions, like the classic example of tennis and 5 a side football. Multifunctional areas are the best choice in contexts like schools that are allowed to save space and time dedicated to the structures maintenance, granting at the same time, with just one field, the chance to the students to perform different sports, developing many motor functions. As regards the lines marking, it is done inlaying lines, made with the same procedure as the rest of the turf, of different colors (usually the main sport has white lines and the other are red, blue or yellow).

° A synthetic filed can be installed indoor?

The installation of synthetic turfs indoor is quite a common practice (like the very spread balloon pressure switch with wood or iron supporting structure) where usually a multi discipline field is chosen.

° Is it possible that the color of the grass changes because of sun rays?

Sun rays, especially U.V. rays stimulate in an intensive way a field installed outdoor, but our products are studied specifically in order to tolerate this kind of strain.

° Is it possible to have puddles on the field?

Our fields are built in order to avoid this kind of accident also in case of strong precipitations, starting from the substructure that is carefully studied and designed for this fundamental function in order to allow and intensive use also in the winter months.

° Is it possible to get some skin burns and grazes while playing on a synthetic turf?

It was possible with old generation fields in which different materials and techniques where employed, but the research has made huge steps in these last years focusing his attention on the user safety and today last generation turfs have overcome this kind of problems.

° Can anyone play on a synthetic turf?

Yes, a synthetic turf field is totally user friendly, as it allows the sportsmen to perform at their best.

° How long can a synthetic turf field last?

Of course this time evaluation must consider the hours of use and the correct application of those few, basic but fundamental maintenance practices that are necessary in order to maintain the perfect wealthy state of the field. The average period is between 8 and 10 years.
